VISIONS OF DEATH COME TRUE.
W. RAY CLAYBERGER FOLLOWS DROWNED BROTHER TO THE GRAVE.
After a four months' illness with Bright's disease, W. Ray Clayberger died on Saturday afternoon, aged 24 years and 8 months. He had a premonition of his death. On the afternoon of August 5 last his younger brother was drowned near Waldheim Park. That evening after he had retired, the deceased called his wife into his room and told her that he had a vision, in which the form of his drowned brother appeared at his bed side and said: "Ray, you will be next."
Deceased always maintained that he was awake when he had the vision. Family and friends noticed that it worried him and all their efforts to cheer him up were unavailing.
Deceased was born in Brandonville, Schuylkill County. Eleven years ago he came to this city with his parents and four years ago he was married to Miss Elda F. Steele, who survives with one daughter, Myrtle, the parents, Charles W. and Mary J. Clayberger, one sister, Mrs. H. M. Zimmerman of Dery Church, and these brothers: Charles, who is on duty at Fort Jay, Governor's Island; Harry H., G. Roscoe and Thomas G., all residing at home.
Deceased was a sheet and metal worker and had for several years been employed by Hersh Bros. He was a member of Alletah Council, D. of P., the Columbia Fire Company and of the Fire Police. He had a wide acquaintance and was popular with all those who came in contact with him.
Funeral serviices will be held from the home of the parents, No. 414 North Eighth Street, on Wednesday at 2 p. m., Rev. J. S. Heisler officiating. Interment will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.
