THOMAS C. CARLTON

Funeral services were conducted from the Pinetops Baptist Church today at 3 p.m. for Thomas Cabell Carlton, 79, who died Wednesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, after a lingering illness. The Rev. T. W. McNeely, the Rev. Reddin Everett, and the Rev. Robert Baldridge officiated. Interment followed in Pinetops Cemetery.

He was a deacon of the Pinetops Baptist Church and the son of the late James C. and Ella Wood Carlton.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Crute Carlton; five daughters, Mrs. D. H. Cole of Wilson, Miss Lillian Carlton of the home, Mrs. E. 0. Coleman of Martinsburg, W. Va., Mrs. J. M. Pendergrass of Greensboro, and Mrs. C. B. Phillips of Fountain; four sons, J. C. Carlton and Milton Carlton, both of Pinetops, R. W. Carlton of Columbus, Ga., and Hilton Carlton of Wilson; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. B. A. McCormick of Richmond, Va.
