GEORGE E. DAMUTH
George Edward Damuth, 89, retired Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Co., conductor, died at 10:45 a. m. Sunday in Newark Hospital. Ill for several months, he was admitted to the hospital March 29.
A resident of Newark 40 years, he also had lived in Zanesville and retired from the B&O service in 1938. He was a native of Thurmont, MD., born Dec. 4, 1866.
His first wife the former Anna Belle Phelphs died in 1937, and his second wife, Carrie Saylor Damuth, lives in Wauchula, Fla. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Donald Crist, 572 Prior Ave., where he made his home and Helen in Zanesville; also four grandchildren; one brother, Chester Damuth of York, Pa. Three sisters and three brothers are deceased.
Mr. Damuth was a 50-year member of the Eagles, and a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Zanesville.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Householder Funeral Home with the Rev. D. W. Donaghue conducting the service. Burial will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p. m. Monday.
