George A. Hinks.

George A. Hinks, 72 years old, a Civil War veteran, and a resident of Cypress Hills for twenty-five years, died on Monday, from diabetes, at his home, 180 Ridgewood avenue, where his funeral services will be held this evening. Mr. Hinks was born in Canada, and formerly lived at Holyoke, Mass. He served in the Civil War as a member of a Massachusetts regiment, and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. He had attended Andrews M. E. Church for a number of years. Mr. Hinks was connected with the box making concern of George H. Reeves, Inc., owned by his daughter, whose first husband was Mr. Reeves. He is survived by his daughter, Lillian, the wife of John E. Brown.

Further particulars have been received concerning the illness and death of George A. Hinks, who died at his home in Brooklyn on January 1st, aged 74 years. Mr. Hinks was born in Athelstan, P. Q., and was a brother of Thomas Hinks of this town. He visited his brother and other relatives in this vicinity last season, and only returned to his home the last of October. He then appeared to be in good health, and the news of his death came as a shock to his many friends. He was confined to the house only a few days, going out for the last time on Christmas day. He leaves to mourn his loss one daughter, Mrs. J. H. Brown, of Greenport, Long Island; also four brothers, Thomas, of Burke, John, of Powerscourt P. Q., James of Monkton, Ont., Peter, of Chateaugay and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Frier, of Franklin Center, P. Q., Mrs. Wallace Persons, of Newbane, Vt., and Mrs John Lowe, of South Wordsboro, Vt.
