Signatures, initials, and identification marks are the unique identifiers we use to make something our own or signify our involvement in something, whether it be a letter, legal document, painting, diary, or any of a miriad of other things we wish to mark as having been in our presence. Although no one ever makes a truly exact copy of their own signature, they are usually similar enough to make it difficult to detect the differences with a quick glance. Everyone also has a slightly different style that tends to evolve slowly over time, and one person can even have multiple styles to switch between as the need arises. Here is a collection of signatures and initials left by ancestors and relatives throughout the years, showing just how varied and yet how similar they can be.
