Mother Given Divorce, While Daughter's Case Was Continued--Other Actions
This seems to be the divorce week in common pleas court, as Judge A. A. Frazier yesterday granted three decrees, and seven more divorce actions will be heard Friday and Saturday.
One unusual feature occurred yesterday when two actions filed last October by a mother and a daughter were tried, the mother securing her divorce, while the daughter's case was continued. The mother was Lillie M. Phelps, and she charged Morgan M. Phelps with gross neglect of duty. She was given a decree and the custody of the children, and also alimony in the sum of $250. The costs were adjudged against the defendant. Emma J. Stroud, the daughter, sued James Stroud on the grounds of gross neglect. Attorney I. P. Humphrey represented both plaintiffs.
