A MOTHER AND DAUGHTER BOTH WANT DIVORCES
Record in Local Common Pleas Court Broken
Lillie M. Phelps and Daughter Emma G. Stroud Principals in Actions
The divorce record in the local common pleas court was broken yesterday when a mother and daughter both filed suits for separation from their husbands, at the same hour, through the same attorney and making practically the same allegations. The two plaintiffs are Lillie M. Phelps, the mother, and Emma G. Stroud, the daughter, the attorney representing both being I. P. Humphrey.
MOTHER'S SUIT
Lillie M. Phelps vs. Morgan M. Phelps is the title of the first suit. The mother says she and her husband were married in Muskingum county, April 2, 1890, and have three children, Emma G., now of age, Christopher T., aged 16, and Morgan C., aged 4 years. She charges her husband with habitual drunkenness, extreme cruelty, states he called her vile names and also charges him with infidelity with various colored women. She also says she haa been forced to provide for herself and children, because of his dissipation and profligacy. She asks an absolute divorce, alimony and custody of the children.
DAUGHTER'S CHARGES
In the divorce petition of Emma G. Stroud vs. James Stroud, the daughter relates that they were married Aug. 24, 1907, and have no children. She say her husband has been guilty of gross neglect of duty, in that he has failed to provide, that he is guilty of extreme cruelty, that he has cursed and swore at her and that he is also guilty of habitual drunkenness. She asks for divorce, alimony and restoration to her maiden name.

Mother Given Divorce, While Daughter's Case Was Continued--Other Actions
This seems to be the divorce week in common pleas court, as Judge A. A. Frazier yesterday granted three decrees, and seven more divorce actions will be heard Friday and Saturday.
One unusual feature occurred yesterday when two actions filed last October by a mother and a daughter were tried, the mother securing her divorce, while the daughter's case was continued. The mother was Lillie M. Phelps, and she charged Morgan M. Phelps with gross neglect of duty. She was given a decree and the custody of the children, and also alimony in the sum of $250. The costs were adjudged against the defendant. Emma J. Stroud, the daughter, sued James Stroud on the grounds of gross neglect. Attorney I. P. Humphrey represented both plaintiffs.
