Newtown Ad Executive Dies in 84th Year in Hospital

NEWTOWN--Services will take place tomorrow for Raymond P. Clayberger, 83, of 14 Currituck road, former director and president of the National Better Business Bureau and a former executive of the Calkins and Holden advertising agency in New York city, who died Tuesday in Danbury Hospital.

They will be conducted at 11 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal church with the Rev. Edward Cook, rector, officiating. Burial will bein Newtown Village cemetery.

The Honan funeral home, 56 Main street, is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Brandonville, Pa., Mr. Clayberger resided in Newtown for 10 years. He was a director of the Safety Car Heating and Lighting company, a founder of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, and a founder and former officer of the National Outdoor Advertising bureau.

Mr. Clayberger was a former trustee of the Bronxville, N. Y. Board of Education. He was a member of the board of directors of the local Red Cross chapter, president of the Newtown Historical Society, and a former president of the Newtown Horticultural club.

A director and former president of the Winter Gold League in Palm Beach, Fla., Mr. Clayberger was a member of the Manhattan club, Canadian club, St. Andews golf club, Scotland, and the St. Andrews society. He was a member of the Pine Valley golf club in New Jersey and the Shenorock Shore club in Rye, New York.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Helen Adams Clayberger, a son, Raymond P. Clayberger Jr. of Simsbury; a daughter, Mrs. George Golding of Sarasota, Fla., and seven grandchildren.
