SUNBURY - Walter, E. Clayberger, 74, of Sunbury RD3, Lower Augusta Township, died Sunday, July 25, 1993, in Sunbury Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 26, 1918, at Fisher's Ferry RD3, he was a son of the late Chester Evans and Violet Elizabeth (DeWitt) Clayberger. He was married to the former Ruth Pauline Miller, who died in 1984.
Mr. Clayberger was educated in the Lower Augusta Elementary School.
He owned and operated a farm at Sunbury RD3. He was also a heavy equipment operator for United Engineer & Contractor Corp. and completed this form of employment, with Three Mile Island being his last place to work before retiring on disability from the International Union Operating Engineers, Norristown.
He served with the Army during World War II in the Heavy Artillery Battalion.
Mr. Clayberger was a citizens band radio operator.
He was a member of the Augusta Baptist Church, Sunbury RD3, and the International Union Operating Engineer Local No. 542, Norristown.
He is survived by several brothers.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Pleasant Mills, by the Rev. Leon Clayberger. Burial will be in the Augusta Baptist Church Cemetery, Sunbury RD3.
Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
