Former Kulpmont Resident Expires
Robert Clayberger, 85, former resident of Kulpmont, died at 11:30 yesterday morning in the Fairview Nursing Home, Langhorne Manor.
Mr. Clayberger was a resident of Kulpmont for 40 years, but for the past 11 years made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Lamar Grove, in suburban Philadelphia.
Born in Boydtown, March 16, 1875, Mr. Clayberger was a son of the late Samuel and Ann (Boyd) Clayberger. He resided for a number of years in Williamstown and while living in this area worked at various collieries. He last was employed at Pennsylvania Colliery, Green Ridge.
While a resident of Philadelphia, Mr. Clayberger was employed as a watchman on [construction] projects. He retired a number of years ago.
Mr. Clayberger was a member of All-Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kulpmont. His wife, the former Martha Frew, died 15 years ago.
Surviving are four children, Alexander, Sr., Kulpmont;; Samuel, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Lester Lapinski, and Mrs. Lamar Grove, Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Adam, Ranshaw.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in Higgins Funeral Home, Mount Carmel. Burial will be in Shamokin Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening, from 7:00 to 10:00.

BOYDTOWN WOMAN DIES AT AGE 87
Mrs. Samuel Clayberger Succumbed Last Evening After Illness of Several Weeks
Ann Clayberger, respected wife of Samuel Clayberger. and one of the oldest residents of Coal township, died at her home at Boydtown at 9 o'clock last evening, death resulting from a complication of diseases, after an illness of several weeks. She was in her eighty-eighth year.
The deceased was born in Ardara Parish, county of Donegal, Ireland, October 10, 1837. She came to America in 1865, shortly after the close of the Civil war and located in this section. She was married to Samuel Clayberger, May 22, 1868, and since that time had lived in Boydtown.
Surviving are her husband, one sister, Susan Boyd, one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Olley, and four sons, as follows: Adam of Brady, Robert of Kulpmont, Samuel, Jr., of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and Henry of Shamokin. There are also 23 grand children and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Clayberger was a devout christian and had been a life-long member of the Episcopal faith, having been actively identified with the Trinity Episcopal church, this city, for a number of years.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon, services to be held at the late home at 2 o'clock, Rev. P. H. Asheton-Martin of Trinity Episcopal church, officiating.

Mrs. Martha F. Clayberger, 76, Dies at Residence in Kulpmont
Mrs. Martha F. Clayberger, 76, wife of Robert Clayberger, 1471 Poplar Street, Kulpmont, died shortly after 4:00 yesterday afternoon In her home from a heart attack sustained Monday, prior to which the matron was in normal health.
Mrs. Clayberger, the former Miss Martha Frew, daughter of Daniel and Anne (Parks) Frew, was born in Schuylkill County, April 16, 1869 Her parents were both natives of Ireland and settled in Schuylkill County in 1860, immediately following arrival in the United States.
The marriage of Robert Clayberger, member of a pioneer Boydtown family, and the then Miss Frew, occurred in Shamokin on May 20, 1896, after which the couple took up residence at Boydtown, removing 26 years ago to Kulpmont.
Mrs, Clayberger was one of the oldest members of All Saints Lutheran Church, Kulpmont, and a regular attendant at services when her health permitted. Surviving Mrs. Clayberger are her husband, two sons, Alex, Kulpmont, and Samuel, Reading; two daughters, Mrs. Lester Lapinski and Mrs. Elizabeth Grove, both of Philadelphia, together with two brothers, Robert Frew, Bethlehem, and Thomas Frew, Williamstown, 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Farrow Funeral Parlors, North Liberty Street, Shamokin, Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2:00. Friends may view in the parlors Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00. Rev. George M. Walborn, pastor of All Saints Lutheran Church, Kulpmont, will officiate at the memorial tribute. Burial will be in the family plot in Shamokin Cemetery.
