Mrs. Jane Olley Passed Away At Boydtown; Stroke

Esteemed Resident of Township Community Succumbed at Early Hour--Ill Five Years

Mrs. Jane Olley, widow of the late Samuel E. Olley, and a life long resident of Coal Township, died at her home in Boydtown at 4 o'clock this morning from the effects of a stroke of paralysis suffered about a month. She had been in failing health for five years prior to being seized with the fatal stroke.

The deceased was born in Boydtown, February 25th, 1869, having been a daughter of "Squire" Samuel and Anna (Boyd) Clayberger, pioneer settlers of Coal Township. With the exception of a few years spent at Excelsior, she had lived her entire life in Boydtown, occupying the old Clayberger residence which is a well known landmark in the eastern section of the township.

Her husband, Samuel E. Olley, met a tragic death about four years ago when he was run down by a train on the Pennsylvania Railroad.

She was a devout Christian and was for many years a faithful and active member of Trinity Episcopal Church of this city. She had also been a member cf the Regina Lodge of Rebekahs for 35 years.

Surviving are three sons, Harold, Chester and Samuel at home, together with the following brothers: Adam Clayberger of Johnson City, Robert Clayberger of Kulpmont, Samuel Clayberger of Poughkeepsie, N. Y.; and Henry of Edgewood.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, with Rev. Lennier of the Monroe H. Kulp Memorial Church of Kulpmont, officiating. Burial will be made in the Shamokin Cemetery.

BOYDTOWN WOMAN DIES AT AGE 87

Mrs. Samuel Clayberger Succumbed Last Evening After Illness of Several Weeks

Ann Clayberger, respected wife of Samuel Clayberger. and one of the oldest residents of Coal township, died at her home at Boydtown at 9 o'clock last evening, death resulting from a complication of diseases, after an illness of several weeks. She was in her eighty-eighth year.

The deceased was born in Ardara Parish, county of Donegal, Ireland, October 10, 1837. She came to America in 1865, shortly after the close of the Civil war and located in this section. She was married to Samuel Clayberger, May 22, 1868, and since that time had lived in Boydtown.

Surviving are her husband, one sister, Susan Boyd, one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Olley, and four sons, as follows: Adam of Brady, Robert of Kulpmont, Samuel, Jr., of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and Henry of Shamokin. There are also 23 grand children and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Clayberger was a devout christian and had been a life-long member of the Episcopal faith, having been actively identified with the Trinity Episcopal church, this city, for a number of years.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon, services to be held at the late home at 2 o'clock, Rev. P. H. Asheton-Martin of Trinity Episcopal church, officiating.
