John F. Stazel, 87, Is Buried at Malta

Special to The Tribune.

MALTA. July 23.--Funeral services were held Wednesday for John Franklin Stazel, a resident of Phillips county since 1915, who died at a local hospital following a seven months illness. Burial was in the Malta cemetery.

Mr. Stazel was 87 years of age. He was born April 29. 1849, at Charleston, Va. (now West Virginia), and came to Montana in 1915. A year later he homesteaded In the Midvale community, south of Malta, where he made his home until 1934, when he moved to Malta.

The deceased is survived by his divorced wife, two daughters, Miss Ethel Stazel and Mrs. Rose Soderquist of Chanute, Kan., and a son, Ed, of Mullan, Ida. Two sisters and a brother also reside In Kansas. The sisters are Mrs. Ida Campbell and Mrs. Mary Burdye and the brother Is Jacob Stazel.

Services were held at the Bell chapel, with the Rev. Roy Petersen, pastor of the Malta Brethren-Community church, officiating.
